This is a very simple game and was purchased for my 4 year old son. Most of the stages were pretty easy to do enough for him, on his own, but ended up helping him on a few levels that were only a little challenging. Finishing each stage you are an achievement that it is a great game for those who simply want success without working too hard makes for them.
The controls are very easy and you are helped at the beginning of the steps with what you have to do. The basic controlsA and X to jump, fight and L to move your character.
There are six characters to play, but did most of the game with game with Sid, and Scrat Buck (the new character from the movie). Buck's challenges are by far the biggest challenge I would think for your younger children.
The multi-player mini-games are fun for the whole family, but somehow are repetitive, so you do the same again and again, tired after a while, can come.

I am a mother / gamer and I liked the PS3 game so much I bought for my xbox 360 too. It can be tricky in some parts, but you can help, get on youtube, if you get stuck. Great graphics. And if you have a Turtle Beach Ear Force Headset with him, the sound is amazing.
