Nintendo designed a third iteration of the Nintendo DS hand-held end of 2006, around the time the Wii version. Following instructions from his superiors, Masato Kuwahara of Nintendo's Engineering Department started developing on the DS project. During production, Kuwahara reported that the team had kept difficulty marketing the hand as it was based, and meant to complement, their existing hardware. Nintendo Lite had developed 3.8-inch screens for the DS and the idea of a DS Lite with bigger screens wide enough that the company have begun mass production. However, Nintendo DS release is the commercial success of his peter out into, and the company later began efforts on the DSi. Iwata encamped the idea of simultaneous release of alarge and small version of the DSi, Nintendo, however,'s hardware team was unable to develop two versions of the same. Different names for the DS Lite were considered, including "DSi Comfort", "DSi Executive", "DSi Premium", "DSi Living" and Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto's "DSi Deka" (Japanese for "great").
