The PlayStation Portable is also known as the PSP handheld markets a unique video game console and launched by Sony Computer Entertainment. The console was first introduced and its development was during the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3 given) of 2008 and it was after one year revealed at E3 2004 press conference in May. The handheld was on 12 Console in Japan in December 2004 published on 24 March 2005 in North America and in other regions it was officiallystarted on 1 September 2005.
The PlayStation Portable is the first and only kind of handheld console, uses the optical disc format as the primary storage medium, this disc as a UMD Universal Media Disc or known. Other important advantages of this handheld console is its wide screen, the connection to the PlayStation 3 and television (only in the newer versions of the console), the Internet and excellent multimedia capabilities. The console also allows games tobe downloaded and stored in its memory.
Despite the excellent system multimedia capabilities and processing power, it is lagging behind in sales as the console compared to its main competitor, the Nintendo DS, but that is the most successful handheld game ever sold, which has not been produced by Nintendo.
