Will there be a Nintendo 3DS XL? ( Click image to see special price!! )
The Nintendo DS Lite while it's not Nintendo's most successful product launch ever, a strong seller since it was published in 2010 beginning as the name implies in., it is simply an oversized version of the standard DSi, a few bonuses allows for:
More social gaming experience, because of the wider viewing angle
Accessible to the older generations (and anyone with eyesight issues)
Larger screen that creates a deeper sense of immersion
But,Shortly after the Nintendo DSi was revealed before the Nintendo 3DS, the successor to the current line of DS gaming handheld. The questions on many people's lips was: we see a Nintendo 3DS XL? And these were not unfounded queries.
Reggie Fils-Aime, president of Nintendo of America has expressed its preference for the XL DSi announce that there is no better way to experience the current DS games and dates back to a smaller screenalmost impossible. It is certainly sounds like a 3DS XL might be a possibility at some point in the future. But this is not the full picture.
Technology and concept-wise, there are some factors that seem to negate the possibility of a 3DS XL – at least in the near future, or without thinking of the handhelds purpose.
First is the way the display works. The biggest attraction of the Nintendo 3DS is the stereoscopic 3D effects that do not require glasses. But because of how these effectsreached, it is not possible to allow for multiple viewing angles. This makes the original XL target, more social games a no-no. Yes, it is technically possible to add more perspective, and companies in the development of these displays work, but we are still a few years out of production and even then the cost could be too high.
The next problem is less with respect to technology and much more in the concept of the DS Lite (and 3DS XL). Above all, the DSiaimed at the older generations and children who want to set a single device and experience the game together.
In relation to the older generations, except for 3D content just does not appeal to many grandparents, problems with vision will not be alleviated with the introduction of the stereoscopic 3D. There is an in-congruence with the market and the technology. But what about children? Well, Reggie Fils-Aime to say:
"We will recommend that very young children do not see3D images, "he said." This is because, [in] young children, the muscles of the eyes are not full … This is the same messaging, that the industry is with 3D films, so it is a standard protocol. We have the same kind of news for the [1990 Nintendo Virtual Reality machine] Virtual Boy, as an example. "(Source)
So, even if the Nintendo 3DS XL is technically feasible, it would not serve a particular purpose. The markets of the DSi would be usedinvalid targets with the inclusion of 3D content.
